If you want to run the editor directly, you can find the editor app in Finder by going into the /Users/Shared/Epic Games/ folder, and then down into "Engine", then "Binaries", then "Mac" and scroll down until you see "UE4Editor" (or "UE4Editor.app" if you are showing filename extensions). Then drag the alias to the desktop to be able to click on it to launch it. You can make an alias for "Unreal Engine.app" on the desktop by selecting "Unreal Engine.app" in Finder and pull down the "File" menu in Finder and select "Make Alias".
